Zachary Gomes

 

Where did you grow up and what was your first language?

I grew up in Albany, New York and my first language is English.

What from your hometown do you wish you could find in New York City?

This may be controversial, but I will stand by the fact that in Albany, NY you can consistently find better subs than NYC.

Where did you go to college?

I have gone to a lot of colleges, I love learning! I started at Schenectady Community College and I am currently a student at Teachers College Columbia University. In between I attended Community Colleges of Vermont, University at Albany, College of Saint Rose, City College, and CUNY SPS.

What was your favorite book in middle school?

I loved reading biographies. Although I don’t recall the author, I remember reading a book about Jim Thorpe and how he became my favorite athlete.

 

What is the best part of teaching at Hamilton Grange?

This will be my first year teaching! For the past six years I have worked after school at HGMS for America SCORES New York. The young people, families and school community are by far my favorite thing.

What is your favorite thing to do when you are not teaching?

I love spending time with my family and friends.
