Francia De Leon

 

Where did you grow up and what was your first language?

I was born in Manhattan. At three months old I went to live in Dominican Republic until I was four years old. I then moved back and have lived in NYC my whole life. My first language was Spanish. 

What from your hometown do you wish you could find in New York City?

My hometown is Harlem! I loved it growing up. I enjoyed the different cultures and the diverse people. 

Where did you go to college?

I received my Bachelor's from CUNY Hunter and my Master's from CUNY City College. 

What was your favorite book in middle school?

Number the Stars by Lois Lowry

 

What is the best part of teaching at Hamilton Grange?

This will be my first year, but I am excited to learn from other teachers and from the students.

What is your favorite thing to do when you are not teaching?

My favorite thing to do when I am not teaching is spending time with my family, cooking, and traveling.
