I grew up in Jamaica and my first language was English.

What from your hometown do you wish you could find in New York City?

Jackfruit is my favorite fruit to indulge in. It is chewy and sweet like candy. I recently found jackfruit in Whole Foods, but it doesn’t taste the same as the one I grew up loving. I wish I were able to find the jack fruit that reminds me of home, in New York.

Where did you go to college?

I graduated from Rutgers University located in Newark, New Jersey.

What was your favorite book in middle school?

I did not have a favorite book growing up, but my favorite author was Toni Morrison. A couple years ago, my mother purchased five of her books for my birthday.
