Lyanne Gonzalez


Where did you grow up and what was your first language?

I grew up in Brooklyn, New York.  I learned Spanish and English simultaneously.

What from your hometown do you wish you could find in New York City?

My hometown is NYC but I spent a lot of my childhood in Puerto Rico. I would love to find some limbers in the city! 

Where did you go to college?

I attended John Jay College of Criminal Justice and obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Forensic Psychology. I attended City College and obtained a Masters of Science in Special Education. I most recently attended Kean University and obtained a Masters of Arts in Educational Leadership.

What was your favorite book in middle school?

My favorite book in middle school was Fahrenheit 451. It opened my eyes to the idea of censorship and how fortunate we are to live in a society where knowledge is available to us. It opened my eyes to appreciate the power we have and how we should always use our voice to advocate for ourselves.

What is your favorite thing to do when you are not teaching?

I love spending time with my dog. I also enjoy crafting. I love creating fun shirts, bags, hats, sweaters, and so much more!
