Where did you grow up and what was your first language?

I grew up in East Flatbush, Brooklyn, New York. My first language was English.

What from your hometown do you wish you could find in New York City?

I wish I could find more Caribbean restaurants, particularly restaurants that serve Bajan cuisine (my family is from Barbados).

Where did you go to college?

I first went to Hunter College, and then transferred, and graduated, from Long Island University-Brooklyn Campus.

What was your favorite book in middle school?

I did not have a favorite book, but I loved all books centered on African-American history and achievement.

 

What is the best part of teaching at Hamilton Grange?

I get to help students find a "deeper love" by teaching them practices to prioritize their mental and emotional wellness - when our students feel well, they do well!

What is your favorite thing to do when you are not teaching?

I love spending quality time with myself, and my family.
